Patronage and Hôpital de la Paix : An Essential Pillar for the Health of the Most Disadvantaged

In a region (North Lebanon) where many people live in precarious conditions, access to quality healthcare is a daily challenge.

The socio-economic situation in northern Lebanon, particularly in the Akkar and Tripoli regions, is particularly worrying. According to a World Bank report published in May 2024, the poverty rate in Lebanon has reached 44% of the total population.

In Akkar, a region where the majority of inhabitants work in agriculture and construction, the poverty rate is alarming, having reached 70%! (Source : Source).

In Tripoli, the second largest city in the country, poverty is also endemic. Previous studies have shown that approximately 60% of households residing in Tripoli are affected by poverty. Furthermore, marginalized neighborhoods like Bab el-Tebbaneh have extreme poverty rates as high as 78%. (Source : Source).

Patronage therefore plays a crucial role in enabling our healthcare structure to provide dignified and appropriate care to all, regardless of means.
